Hi.
I'm Mimi Maixner
Welcome to my writing website. It will eventually showcase my writing from my time at Michigan, but right now it just has my writing from the writing minor gateway course.
My gateway course materials are based off of my experience working in healthcare during the COVID-19 pandemic this past year. I work as a caregiver in a home for residents with traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) and unfortunately, the home I work in got covid this past year.

In my Why I Write essay I explain how I write for clarity, and how clear communication is a necessity, especially during a pandemic.

In Experiment 1, I take readers along with me in a present-tense account as I hear about some of the other homes getting COVID-19 within the company.

In Experiment 2, I create a lesson plan for elementary schoolers learning about COVID-19 to show a lighter but still educational approach to the pandemic.

In Experiment 3, I make a simple email communication outline with tips and tricks so no information will be left out.

In my Final Project, I reflect on my time working in the past six months in a long essay memoir to express my opinion on the events of the pandemic.

Working in this job during the pandemic has heightened my interest in inequities and problems that arise within and around healthcare. In 2023 I will graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Sciences to try and help remedy situations like this.

Please explore my website to hear more about my experiences in the past year. Thank you!
